Hepburn System

I reside in the Tempaku Ward of Nagoya. It has always struck me as odd that　天白　（てんぱく）is romaznized as Tempaku and not Tenpaku. After a little searching I soon discovered that Nagoya City uses the traditional Hepburn system meaning that ん　is written as n before consonants rendered as "m" before other labial consonants, i.e. "b","m" and "p."

The kunrei system which I still have a distaste for is mostly utilized by native-Japanese speakers or Japanese linguists. The rendering "m" before labial consonants is not used being replaced with the more natural "n".

Still though mail gets to me if you write either Tenpaku or Tempaku so don't fret if you can't remember which the next time you want to send me a box of reces peanut butter cups or better yet smuggle me in some good ole Chicago Pizza.

4 page translation and off to the World Expo 2005

I a hit an uglly spot in one of my translations so it is siesta time. I have just four pages to finish and then I can get ready for Aichi Banpaku World Expo Aichi Seto Japan 2005. I have been meaning to go for the past month. As long as the weather holds out I am planning to bike there tomorrow. My friend Alan said that it takes a good four days to see all of the pavillions. I also read that many of the pavillions have plans to undergo seasonal facelifts to attract return visitors. I'm bad at math but even I can see that 4 (days) x 3 (seasons) = 12 visits. At 4000 yen a pop I decided to go for the 16000 yen season pass. Since it's only 30 minutes by bike I figured it would give me something to do on a lazy weekday, often the only time I can afford a holiday. I'll be sure to give you a full report!

待ちきれない！！！

Looks like all hope for Nagoya isn't lost after all. T-minus some 20 odd days before

this Herculus-forsakesn city gets a real gym. I am trying to get that bench up to 140kg

before beach season. I have been hitting the roller to get those bottom abs to scratch the

surface. They have been down under for long enough. Then we have the splits and 20

wide grip pullups and then were almost set. If we can get those abs to ボコボコ before beach

time I won't be complaining. There is a picture there to see the gym. Looks a little small if

ask me but I've seen pictures of the place Lou Ferrigno trained in Pumped Up so I'm not

gonna complain. Oh yeah and I'm starting my journal now. Hope I can keep this up.
